What are values?
Values are the principles, virtues, or qualities that characterize a person, an action, or an object that are typically considered positive or of great importance to a social group.
1. Kindness Kindness is one of the most general human values of our being. It can translate into hundreds and hundreds of thousands of actions depending on each context, but it always reflects the desire to do good, have good intentions with other people, be kind or help as much as possible.
2. Sincerity As a virtue, sincerity translates into living and relating without hidden intentions through our actions or words. This is one of the moral values par excellence, since being honest with oneself always leads us to be honest with others.
3. Empathy Likewise, empathy is closely related to sincerity. Whoever seeks kindness, happiness or sincerity with oneself, understands that any human being also lives in constant search of the same. For this reason, empathy, which helps us to put ourselves in the situation of our peers, also helps us to understand them, support them and help them when necessary, which is the same thing that we want, right? As concerned mothers and fathers, we believe that a good way to work on empathy and values education is through our own children, who will be in charge of fighting for a better world tomorrow, and in Ayuda en Acción we recommend some children's movies that transmit positive values both for empathy and for the rest of the values that make us human.
4. love Like other related values such as joy or optimism, love is, very probably, one of the strongest feelings of a human being: love for art!, for our loved ones!, love for what we make! As a human value, love is the engine that starts giving and receiving, living together, sharing, respecting or trusting.
5. Patience Contrary to the here and now, patience teaches us to fight for what we want, to tolerate discomfort or concern, and to understand that there are good days and bad days, but few problems without solutions.
6. Gratitude We could have chosen other values, such as friendship, but at Ayuda en Acción we know that gratitude is almost always the greatest reward for the giver and the great gesture of the receiver. It is as simple and as complex in itself as thanking the people who have helped or supported us.
7. Forgiveness Unlike gratitude, forgiveness not only empowers us as people, but also allows us to show the right path to that individual who has done wrong with us and perhaps with third parties; With forgiveness we desist from punishment or revenge against a person who behaved unfairly with us.
8. Humility Humility is based on the fact that no one knows everything. As human beings, we move between our own limits and weaknesses; a humble person knows that together we are more, and therefore cares about the good of all those around him.
9. Responsibility In turn, responsibility takes on many facets, from the collective to the individual linked to our duties, commitments and obligations to third parties. Perhaps it is one of the most difficult human values, and for which we recommend you always remember that responsibility begins with oneself.
10. Solidarity Finally, as an NGO concerned with principles such as collective effort, institutional transparency and the dignity of all people, at Ayuda en Acción we believe that solidarity is one of the great human values of our time. Solidarity is the feeling and the principle that allows us to help any human being at any time, especially in situations of helplessness, and we believe that it includes many of the human values that we have been able to talk about in this article, such as kindness , love, humility or empathy. Because we believe that learning about them is a good way to grow as people, and helping others to be educated in values is the best way to build a better world.
